Medal dancing is a fantastic way to develop your skills and confidence while working towards clear and achievable goals. For many dancers, medal classes are the next step after learning the basics, providing a structured pathway to improve technique, learn new figures and become a more confident dancer.

At Perth Dance Club, medal programs are offered across Ballroom, Latin and New Vogue, giving students the opportunity to develop their dancing in one or all three styles.

Medal exams are structured across progressive levels — Bronze, Silver and Gold — with each stage introducing more challenging figures and greater expectations in technique, musicality and performance quality. Students can progress through the levels at their own pace, with our qualified teachers providing guidance and support throughout their journey.

Examinations are conducted by an independent professional examiner, with students receiving a result and valuable feedback on their performance. While we encourage students to work towards completing their medal exam, sitting the examination is not compulsory. Many dancers enjoy participating in medal classes simply as a structured and rewarding way to improve their dancing.

For dancers who complete the Gold level, further opportunities are available through Star and Oscar exams. These personalised performances allow dancers to work with their teacher to create choreography to music of their choosing, showcasing their individual personality, strengths and dancing — much like creating their own Dancing with the Stars routine.

Medal dancing is suitable for a wide range of ages and experience levels. Perth Dance Club is also a registered KidSport Club, helping eligible Western Australian families access financial assistance towards participation costs. All PDC teachers working with children hold valid Working with Children Checks.
